What Does "Open Source" Mean?
OPEN SOURCE Refers generally to any piece of software...
"...whose source code is made available for use or modification as users or other developers see fit. Open source software is usually developed as a public collaboration and made freely available." (Source)
The open source community of developers is very large. In fact, it is global in scope.

It is the fact that open source code is often freely available to whomever wants it which encourages this large community of developers - each learning from the efforts of his or her peers, and adding to the growing fund of programs, tweaks, hacks, and improvements. It is not for the faint of heart, or for those who do not have the time to invest in bringing themselves up to speed on its potential.

However, open source programming makes virtually any feature that you could ever want in a website available to the developer who has the experience and patience to know where to find what he or she needs in order to satisfy the customer - in this case, you. The value of this to Wham Productions is that we are not weighted down by the burden of having to re-invent the wheel. For almost any need one of our customers would have, there exists a highly configurable and customizable solution in the open source world. The value of this to you, the customer, is that your website design is not freighted with the cost of programming development and the large amount of time involved. Time is money, and anything that Wham Productions can do to bring your website to release more quickly reduces the cost of publication, and brings a truly dynamic site within the budget of most small businesses.
