| What Does "Dynamic Content" Mean? |
|
Dynamic Content describes a web page content that is generated by a website/script just as the user views it. This is made possible because the content is actually stored in a database instead of being hard coded into the HTML of the web page. It could be said that the page, as the viewer sees it, doesn't actually exist until the viewer calls it into their browser window by either clicking on a link, or by typing an address into their browser's location bar and hitting "enter" or "return." The advantage of Dynamic Content to the website owner is the ease of keeping the site's content current without having to know how to program web languages. The site's content is accessed by the owner through an administrative login, which allows the owner to add, subtract, or edit pages and menus by means of built in editing tools. The site owner can also add or subtract additional features, or "plugins," which expand the capabilities of the original content management system. These plugins are generally available for free, or in some cases for small donations to the plugin's developers. In fact, the site owner can completely change the look of the website with a few clicks of their mouse simply by applying a new template, and Voila! The site looks different. Dynamic Content is a very powerful tool which puts control over a website's content into the hands of the site owner, and removes or decreases their dependence on a business like ours.
